Morski transport
Morski transport – a number of specialized companies take part in sea and port trade. The task of each of them is to implement a different element of the logistics chain, which for an inexperienced reader may turn out to be very complicated from the broadly understood sea transport, by container transport, up to the "container transport" service. So it's worth a bit, in simple words and without reaching for textbook definitions in the field of logistics, transport and forwarding, bring closer the commercial use of sea trade routes.
Two obvious elements of the maritime shipping supply chain, which come to mind at the very beginning are of course ships and ports. Without them, this whole developed supply system would be meaningless. Port, the place where land and water meet is the first of these stops. Its quays, falochrony, ostrogi, moles and piers are called infrastructure. Any and all reloading devices, cranes, quay and square cranes are superstructures. All these devices included in the more or less specialized transshipment terminals serve one purpose: as soon as possible, the cheapest and easy to load and unload goods (Container transport) on and off the ship. The allocation of cargo on vessels also plays an important role here. Skilful placement, e.g.. containers (container transport) on the ship, stowage is of decisive importance in the economy of transport. After all, a ship visits many ports, and the point is that the cranes must make as few movements as possible each time to load or unload a given container.
The ship leaves the port. Container ship, bulk carrier or tanker - always the masses of the owner, ie the owner, This does not mean, that this role is identical with that of its operator. Ships can be chartered and, in this role, sail on routes specified by the operator. It's worth adding, with the so-called. Tramps in the maritime economy, or "free" ships sailing from port to port in search of cargo, e.g.. Container transport services are a real rarity today. Regular line connections are dominated by the aforementioned operators offering highly specialized "container transport" services.
The topic of the cargo itself carried by ships is also important. Who is involved in obtaining them? In the industry, sea transport is most often agency companies, of which there are many on the market, from the small ones operating locally, to large global corporations. Their task is to contact the supplier or recipient of the goods, container transport and, as part of the cooperating line services, filling the "slots" on ships. It is worth paying attention here, that the agent acts rather from the line operator / shipowner side, than from the side of ordering container-transport. A forwarder acts on behalf of the owner of the cargo - a shipping company dealing with the organization of cargo transport from the logistics and legal side. The forwarding company itself often has to use the help of other companies: transport - with a car or rail fleet at their disposal, control - dealing with checking the goods, its expertise and must cooperate with a number of state entities involved in port and sea trade, for example with the Customs Office.
It is also worth explaining the term intermodal transport, which appears more and more often in the terminology of maritime traffic. Well, it is nothing else, such as the organization of cargo transport or entire logistic lines with the use of multiple means of cargo transfer: ships, cars or trains offering container transport.
