Records that were broken in the port of Gdańsk last year
Another records that were broken in the Gdańsk port in a year 2015
Year 2015 was unique for the Port of Gdansk, anyway, you can clearly see the numbers. 36 million tons of transhipped products, more than ten percent increase in turnover and investments worth nearly a billion show perfectly, how it all looked like in the previous period. First of all, a year 2015 was a year of large investments. For example, the design phase of the port quay expansion program has been completed, combining with the magnification of the fairway depth. Large investments have been made in fuel. The initial stage of the PERM oil terminal was successfully completed, and additionally, the Liquid Fuel Terminal was modernized, adding further equipment for handling petroleum products there. The containers were also not forgotten, here, too, various investments have significantly improved the daily work with them. Last year, a thorough reconstruction of the container terminal began, and in addition, the intermodal terminal at the Szczecinskie Quay was significantly modernized. Besides, a lot of smaller works and projects were done, which, however, are quite significant in terms of the quality and safety of unloading services.
And these transshipments every year 2015 there was a record number in Gdańsk, for almost thirty-six million tons. The main part of them, because nearly fifteen million tons were liquid fuels, it was a 20% increase compared to previous years. The general cargo sector also achieved excellent results, even though the crisis has raged in the world, it was not especially noticeable in Gdańsk. 11,9 million tons and a five percent increase over the year 2014 they are also indicators, great reasons to be satisfied. Despite the fact that the number of containers has decreased, however, their tonnage increased significantly, and hence such a good result in this particular segment. On the other hand, the biggest increases occurred in coal handling, Compared to a year earlier, its number has increased by a third. On the other hand, slight drops occurred in transshipment of cereals, mainly for this reason, that the rest of Polish ports also went in this direction.
